M. D. Anderson YMCA visits the Houston Symphony
How the Grinch Stole Christmas was a fantastic way for the Chester Pitts Charitable Foundation to end the 2013 year. We had a blast taking elementary aged children from the M.D Anderson YMCA branch to the Houston Symphony to see Dr. Suess’ classic story. Thank you to our friends at Macy’s and SuitMart for helping us dress up the children in suits and dresses. They all had a wonderful time picking out their outfits at the stores and looking their best on the day of the concert.
The children loved the concert and enjoyed signing along to songs with the audience. After the performance the Houston Symphony treated the kids to craft stations, cookies and punch and best of all a meet and greet with the Grinch himself!View Event
4th Annual Single Fathers Shopping Event
For the fourth year the Chester Pitts Charitable Foundation chose single fathers to once again go shopping at our favorite store Costco Wholesale. We give a big thanks to Costco and its employees for helping to make this experience an awesome one for the families involved. We choose ten families from various YMCA locations to eat great pizza and desserts, decorate reindeer and christmas stockings and best of all, SHOP!View Event
Yes Prep West at the Houston Symphony
What’s a great way to kick of the fall school year? How about taking Yes Prep students to a symphonic experience at that Houston Symphony. The young teens were in awe watching the cirque artists perform to the sounds of lively symphony music. The youth were treated to a meet and greet with the performers and the conductor after the concert and all of them had an unforgettable experience.View Event
The 2nd Annual ‘Tee It Up For the Arts Celebrity Golf Challenge
Our 2nd annual ‘Tee It Up For the Arts’ celebrity golf tournament was a success this year! We experienced great weather for golfing and a few of the celebrities seen on the green were Andre Johnson, Jonathan Joseph, Brian Ching, Kareem Jackson, Caleen Carr and Paul Wall. The funds we raised from this event will send some of our underprivileged youth to experience the Houston Symphony for the very first time as well as other foundation programs and scholarships geared towards fine arts and culture. We like to say a big thank you to all of our sponsors and supporters of this event. We look forward to doing it again next year!View Event
